“Mountain Tiger” Zhang Mingyang, 25, of Qingdao, Shandong, China is one of the winners at “UFC 298”. It is the Chinese mixed martial artist’s first victory in the Ultimate Fighting Championship, which is based in Las Vegas, Nevada, United States.
Featuring 12 MMA matches, “UFC 298” was held at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California, United States on February 17, 2024. In the fourth bout of the evening, Zhang fought “The Gorilla” Brendson Ribeiro, 27, of Vila Mau, Para, Brazil in the light heavyweight division.
Referee Mike Beltran stopped the fight after 1 minute and 41 seconds in the first round. Zhang knocked out Ribeiro via punches.
The victory improved Zhang’s professional MMA record to 17 wins and 6 losses. Ribeiro now has 15 wins, 6 losses and 1 No Contest.
Zhang made his UFC debut at “UFC 298”. He was the only Chinese fighter on the card.
On December 20, 2014, Zhang made his professional MMA debut. Before joining the UFC, he competed in Sunkin International Fight Club, Kunlun Fight and Wu Lin Feng, among others.
