Samuel Knopp of Parker, Douglas County, Colorado, United States and Celie Rain Montgomery of Pueblo, Pueblo County, Colorado have died. He was 24 and she was 26.

At around 5:59 a.m. on February 16, 2024, Knopp and Montgomery were fatally shot in a Crestone House dorm room at the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs in Colorado Springs, El Paso County, Colorado. He was a student at the university. She was not.

From 2019 to 2021, Montgomery studied psychology at Pueblo Community College in Pueblo. She worked as a freelance health and wellness copywriter.

On February 17, 2024, the El Paso County Coroner’s Office conducted an autopsy of Knopp and Montgomery. Their deaths are being investigated as homicides, according to the Colorado Springs Police Department.

Montgomery was a single mother who gave birth to her two daughters in 2016 and 2018. Why she was at the UCCS with Samuel is still unknown.

Knopp is Amy Elswick Knopp‘s son and Ellie Knopp‘s twin brother. He attended Estes Park High School in Estes Park, Larimer County, Colorado.

Samuel was a senior studying music at the UCCS and a member of the university’s visual and performing arts department. He was scheduled to perform a senior recital on March 21, 2024.
