Lawrence Jones of Dawson, Terrell County, Georgia, United States has died. He was 22.
Jones was originally from Byromville, Dooly County, Georgia. On December 16, 2023, he was fatally shot in the 400 block of 14th Avenue in Dawson.
The Dawson Police Department and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation investigated the shooting. Sasser, Terrell County residents Zachery Leon Purvis, 23, and Shy’Rico Tremaine Johnson, 19, were identified as the suspects.
Recently, Purvis and Johnson were arrested for Jones’ murder. The two suspects were booked into the Terrell County Jail in Dawson.
This is not the first time Purvis and Johnson were arrested. On April 19, 2022, they were both arrested in Sasser.
Purvis was charged with possession of marijuana, possession and use of drug-related objects and possession of controlled substances. Johnson was charged with carrying a pistol without license, pointing or aiming gun at another, fleeing or attempting to elude police, obstructing law enforcement officers, obstruction of law enforcement officers, theft by bringing stolen property into state, aggravated assault, possession of firearm or knife during the commission of or attempt to commit certain felonies, interference with government property, first-degree burglary, second-degree criminal damage to property and three counts of theft by taking.
