Lyndell Mays, 22, of Raytown, Missouri, United States is still recovering in a hospital in Kansas City, Missouri. He is being held on $1 million bond.
Mays and Dominic Michael Miller, 18, of Kansas City, Missouri, United States were charged with murder over the mass shooting at a parade in Kansas City on February 14, 2024. They did not know each other prior to the shooting.

On February 11, 2024, the Kansas City Chiefs won the Super Bowl LVIII at the Allegiant Stadium in Paradise, Nevada, USA. On February 14, 2024, a victory parade was held for the National Football Association team at Union Station in Kansas City.
Armed with firearms, Mays and Miller attended the parade. The Raytown resident was carrying a stolen gun.
Amid the celebration, a heated argument broke out between Mays and Miller, who both fired their weapons. It was Mays who allegedly fired his weapon first.
A pistol and spent shell casings were found next to Mays, who was suffering from apparent gunshot trauma. Miller was shot, as well, and they were both hospitalized.
Also hospitalized were 11 adults and 12 children who were wounded. The youngest is 11 and the oldest is 47.
Tejano disc jockey Elizabeth “Lisa” Lopez Gavlan was fatally shot. She was 43.
Two underage suspects who were charged as minors in connection to the shooting could eventually be charged as adults. On February 20, 2024, Mays and Miller were each charged with unlawful use of a weapon, second-degree murder and two counts of armed criminal action.
