Cristian Avila-Solis, 21, of Del Valle, Travis County, Texas, United States is currently in custody at the Tarrant County Jail in Fort Worth, Tarrant County, Texas. He is waiting to be extradited to Travis County.

When Avila-Solis was a juvenile, he had run-ins with law enforcement. He is 5’9″ tall and he weighs 190 pounds.

Avila-Solis is a U.S. citizen. He, John Wiley Bagwell, 21, and Juan Lopez-Espinoza, 19, are accused of killing Jose Alberto Aguirre-Castellanos.

On May 23, 2022, Aguirre-Castellanos was found dead in the parking lot of an LA Fitness location near West Slaughter Lane and Menchaca Road in Austin, Travis County. He was fatally shot allegedly by Avila-Solis, Bagwell and Lopez-Espinoza after an altercation.

Later that day, Lopez-Espinoza was arrested. After Aguirre-Castellanos’s death, Avila-Solis and Bagwell fled to Mexico.

On May 25, 2022, Lopez-Espinoza was charged with first-degree murder. On August 2, 2022, the U.S. Marshals‘ Violent Offender Task Force in Colorado, USA arrested Bagwell in Monument, El Paso County, Colorado.

On February 17, 2024, Mexican authorities arrested Avila-Solis in San Luis Potosi, Mexico for an immigration violation. On February 18, 2024, he was deported to Fort Worth, Tarrant County and arrested by U.S. Marshals.

Avila-Solis was charged with murder in connection to Aguirre-Castellanos’s murder. His bond was set to $75,000 for the charge.

Moreover, Avila-Solis was charged with burglary of vehicles in Hays County. For this charge, his bond was set at $6,000.
