Marwan Frouh, 21, of Louisville, Jefferson County, Kentucky, United States has been arrested. In 2021, he graduated from Waggener High School in Louisville where he played football.
At around 1:00 a.m. on March 2, 2024, the police department of the University of Louisville in Louisville was called to The Retreat at Louisville apartment complex in Louisville for reports of a loud party. Officers went there and broke up the party.
Minutes later, Frouh shot a man in the abdomen near the entrance of the apartment complex. It was recorded by a Ring doorbell.
The name of the victim, who is a University of Louisville student, was not released. He was taken to the university’s hospital.
When Frouh was arrested near the crime scene, his hands were bleeding. He was holding a gun with a magazine missing.
According to Frouh, he fired a shot because he was being chased by four people. Based on the Ring doorbell footage, he did fire a shot but he was not being chased.
Frouh was charged with assault and wanton endangerment. On March 4, 2024, he appeared in court in Louisville and pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Initially, bond for Frouh was set at $500,000. The judge lowered it to $50,000.
