Ilan-Reuben Abramov, 27, of Vaughan, Ontario, Canada has been arrested. On the morning of March 3, 2024, he brought a nail to a demonstration in Thornhill, Ontario.
That morning, the Aish Thornhill Community Shul in Thornhill was hosting a seminar on buying property in Israel, which was promoted by real estate agents and open only to people who pre-registered. More than 100 protesters gathered outside the synagogue.
Some of protesters were pro-Palestine while the others were pro-Israel. York Regional Police officers tried to keep the two groups on separate sides of the street.
An altercation broke out when a male pro-Palestine protester claimed that Abramov had tried to shoot him with a nail gun. The Vaughan resident had stopped his car near the pro-Palestine demonstrators and started shouting obscenities at them.
While holding a nail gun, Abramov was filmed threatening the people around him. He confronted at least three protesters.
“Every f—–g Palestinian will die!” Abramov shouted. He later put his nail gun away in his car and squared up for a fistfight.
Instead of fighting, Abramov drove away. After his arrest, he was charged with mischief, assault with a weapon, possessing weapons dangerous to the public and two counts of assault.
