Six men from the San Francisco Bay Arena, California, United States were arrested between February 26, 2024 and March 7, 2024 as part of Operation Broken Heart. The aim of the operation was to find people seeking to exploit minors for sex acts.

A total of 12 law enforcement agencies participated in the operation including the police departments of Brentwood, Contra Costa County, California and Danville, Contra Costa, the Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office and Contra Costa County Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. The operation encompassed hundreds of law enforcement work hours.

During the sting operation, undercover officers posed as teens on social media. After chatting with the undercover officers, the six men showed up at locations in Danville to meet the purported teens.

The suspects are from Brentwood; Concord, Contra Costa County; Pittsburg, Contra Costa County; Benicia, Solano County, California; Hayward, Alameda County, California and Union City, Alameda County. Here are their names:

  1. Alexander Derrick Hellmund, 59, Concord
  2. Brady Allen Godsey-Lally, 27, Brentwood
  3. Elmer Desiderio Ramirez-Lucha, 45, Pittsburg
  4. James Paul Walsh, 44, Hayward
  5. Joseph Rudolfo Martinez, 38, Union City
  6. Mahmut Guzelsu, 27, Benicia

Hellmund was charged with attempting to kidnap a minor, attempted lewd acts with a minor and arranging to meet a minor for sex. Godsey-Lally, Guzelsu and Ramirez-Lucha were charged with a minor and arranging to meet a minor for sex. 

Walsh was charged with attempting to kidnap a minor for sex, attempted lewd acts with a minor and arranging to meet a minor for sex. He has posted bail.

Martinez has also posted bail. He is a teacher at Tennyson High School in Hayward.
