Malta has yet to have a Miss Universe placement. The European country was represented in the international beauty pageant by the winner of Miss Malta from 1968 to 1988 and from 1995 to 2001 and the winner of Miss Republic of Malta from 1989 to 1994 before going on hiatus from 2002 to 2015.
In 2016, Martha Fenech won the inaugural edition of Miss Universe Malta. The title was won by Tiffany Pisani in 2017, Francesca Mifsud in 2018, Teresa Rugio in 2019, Anthea Zammit in 2020 and Jade Cini in 2021.
Second runner-up to Cini was Maxine Formosa, who was appointed Miss Universe Malta 2022. On June 30, 2023, Ella Portelli of Saint Julian’s won Miss Universe Malta 2023 at the Hilton Conference Centre in St. Julian’s.
Runner-up to Portelli was Julia Ann Cluett of Floriana. The second runner-up was Ntombi Malinga of St. Gawan.
Miss Universe Malta 2024
On July 11, 2024, Portelli will crown her successor at the Hilton Conference Centre in St. Julian’s. It is the eighth edition of the national beauty pageant that selects Malta’s Miss Universe candidate.
