Connor Smith, 33, of Orland Park, Illinois, United States has been arrested. Aside from Orland Park, he has lived in other parts of Illinois including Tinley Park.
Smith appeared in “Are You the One?” Season 3, which aired on MTV from September 24, 2015 to November 18, 2015. In January 2023, he allegedly started communicating with someone he thought was a girl aged 15.
In online conversations, Smith allegedly sent the purported girl explicit photos and videos of himself and made arrangements to meet her for a sexual encounter. On February 9, 2023, he drove to meet her for the sexual encounter.
Unbeknownst to Smith, the purported girl was actually an undercover detective. When he arrived at the location they agreed upon, he managed to escape and drive off before detectives could arrest him.
Bond for Smith was set at $1 million. He was charged with grooming, disseminating harmful material and traveling to meet a minor.
On March 28, 2024, Federal Bureau of Investigation agents arrested Smith in Clearwater, Florida, USA. He was booked into the Pinellas County Jail in Clearwater.
The FBI has yet to release details about how Smith was found in Clearwater. He will be extradited to Illinois.
