Ariel Garcia of Everett, Snohomish County, Washington, United States has died. He was 4.
On March 26, 2024, Garcia’s grandmother Maria Angelica Garcia won emergency guardianship of Ariel and his brother, 7. Maria convinced a judge that Ariel’s mother Janet Ernestina Garcia, 27, of Everett was a threat and unable to care for the boy.
According to Maria, Janet was addicted to drugs and alcohol. Janet would leave home for days due to the addiction, Maria said.
On March 27, 2024, Ariel was reported missing. On the same day, deputies with the office of the Clark County, Washington sheriff impounded Janet’s vehicle.
At around 5:55 p.m. on March 28, 2024, Ariel was found dead in Pierce County, Washington. His cause of death has yet to be confirmed.
On Marc 29, 2024, Everett Police Department officers arrested Janet. She was charged with first-degree murder, second-degree murder and first-degree assault of a child.
Bond for Janet was set at $1,000. She was booked into the Snohomish County Jail in Everett.
