Gilbert Santiago Reyes Bermúdez, 36, of San Francisco, California, United States is a California native. He and his former girlfriend Dione Solórzano have one son together.
On January 6, 2024, Reyes and Solorzano were in Roatán, Islas de la Bahia, Honduras with her friends María Antonia Cruz and Nikendra McCoy Francisco. He is accused of killing the three women.
On January 7, 2024, Reyes left Honduras, traveled to California and hid in Miami, Florida, USA. On January 9, 2024, Cruz, McCoy and Solorzano were found dead inside a vehicle in Roatan.
On January 10, 2024, Reyes was identified as the prime suspect. On March 16, 2024, he arrived in the Dominican Republic.
International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol) officers in the Dominican Republic and Honduras worked together to locate Reyes. On March 29, 2024, he was arrested at the Aeropuerto Internacional Las Américas in Punta Caucedo, Dominican Republic.
Authorities seized his U.S. passport, two cellphones and other items including $205 and 600 pesos in cash, a wallet, documents, keys and glasses. He will be extradited back to Honduras.
This is not the first time Reyes was arrested. On June 8, 2008, he, Uberne Alesandro Mendieta, then 20, of San Francisco and Max Alexander Reyes, then 24, of Concord, California allegedly fatally shot Donald Robert Walker III of Concord. Walker was 22.
On June 9, 2008, Gilbert, Mendieta and Max were arrested. They were booked into the Contra Costa Country Jail in Martinez, California.
