Joseph Chris Reyes, 24, of Laredo, Webb County, Texas, United States was arrested again. On September 15, 2023, he was driving a black Nissan Frontier while he was intoxicated.
That day, the vehicle allegedly hit a woman on Jacaman Road in Laredo and fled the scene. Reyes displayed signs of intoxication when he was arrested.
When Reyes was transported to a hospital for medical evaluation, he tried to evade arrest. He was charged with damage to vehicle, driving while intoxicated, evading arrest, resisting arrest, attempt to take weapon from an officer and escape from custody.
On March 30, 2024, Reyes allegedly assaulted his former girlfriend and forced her to get into a vehicle. He fired a handgun while threatening her, according to her.
The woman was able to successfully get away from Reyes. He fled the scene but was arrested when Laredo Police Department officers found him near Del Mar Boulevard and Country Club Drive in Laredo.
Reyes was charged with aggravated kidnapping, aggravated assault, discharge of a firearm, unauthorized use a motor vehicle, making a terroristic threat, and evading arrest. Moreover, he was served with two pending warrants from Webb County for interfering with public duties and resisting arrest.
Laredo, which is the seat of Webb County, is home to Laredo College and Texas A&M International University. The city’s Hispanic proportion of 95.15% is one of the highest proportion of Hispanic Americans of any U.S. city outside of Puerto Rico.
