Eric Y. Sim is an Asian-American aerospace engineer from Houston, Texas, United States. He previously lived in Raleigh, North Carolina, USA.

In 2010, Sim started disc jockeying and worked at Choice Hotels International as a hotel manager. In 2011, he entered North Carolina State University in Raleigh to pursue a bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering.

In 2012, Sim joined the National Aeronautics and Space Administration as a flight lead and engineer. On April 18, 2012, he took to Instagram to share a childhood photo of him and wrote in the caption, “Young mug shot lol”.

Sim met Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency astronaut Koichi Wakata in October 2012 and aerospace engineer Gene Kranz in November 2012. From 2019 to 2022, Sim allegedly used dating apps including Hinge, East Meets East and OkCupid to communicate with multiple people then sexually assaulted at least six people he dated at his residence in Houston.
