Kulsuma Akter of Oldham, Greater Manchester, England, United Kingdom has died. She was 27.
Habibur Masum, 25, of Oldham and Akter were known to each other. On November 23, 2023, he allegedly assaulted her in Manchester, Greater Manchester and on November 24, 2023, he allegedly threatened to kill her in Manchester.
Masum was charged with assaulting and threatening to kill Akter. He denied both offenses and was bailed by magistrates.
At around 3:20 p.m. on April 6, 2024, Akter was pushing her baby in a pram in Westgate, Bradford, West Yorkshire, England when she was stabbed allegedly by Masum. A man, 23, allegedly assisted Masum.
Akter was going out to but some food to break her Ramadan fast when she was stabbed. Her baby was not physically harmed.
Emergency service workers responded to the scene. A short time later, Akter was pronounced dead.
On April 8, 2024, the man who allegedly assisted Masum was arrested in Cheshire, North West England, England. On April 9, 2024, Masum was found and arrested in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire, South East England, England.
