Jaylan N . V. Perry of Toledo, Ohio, United States has died. She is John Perry Jr. and Amanda Schaffner‘s daughter.
John is John Perry Sr. and Michelle Perry‘s son. Schaffner is David Luiz and Anita Luiz‘s daughter.
On February 10, 2024, Jaylan turned 15. On March 17, 2024, she was shot in the head inside a residence on Park Street in Toledo allegedly by her former boyfriend Robert Shields III, 18, of Toledo, who was at large after the shooting.
On March 20, 2024, Jaylan died at the hospital. Her death was ruled a homicide.
Jaylah’s family decided to donate her organs through Life Connection of Ohio. The six recipients are from different states.
The Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force offered a $5,000 reward for information that would lead to Shields’ arrest. At around 7:00 a.m. on April 13, 2024, Indiana State Police troopers pulled him over for speeding on I-70 near Knightstown, Indiana, USA.
The troopers took Shields into custody after learning that he had a warrant out for his arrest. He was booked into the Henry County Jail in New Castle, Indiana.
In Indiana, Shields was charged with possession of marijuana and being an operator never licensed. He will be extradited back to Ohio.
