Andrea Ye, 18, of Rockville, Montgomery County, Maryland, United States is of Chinese descent. Born biologically female, he identifies as male and his preferred name is Alex Ye.
Alex Ye’s manifesto
Ye graduated from Lakewood Elementary School in Rockville. He also attended Thomas S. Wootton High School in Rockville.
In December 2022, Ye was hospitalized after threatening to shoot up a school. He was homicidal and was having suicidal ideations.
From late 2022 to early 2023, a school counselor worked with Ye. According to the counselor, the teenager would smile while expressing violent thoughts such as wanting to hurt other people and shooting up Lakewood Elementary School and Wootton High School.
In 2023, Ye was having homicidal ideations again. He spent five months at the pediatric unit of Johns Hopkins Children’s Center in Baltimore, Maryland.
Later, Ye authored a 129-page manifesto. He wrote about committing a school shooting and his desire to be famous.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation learned about the manifesto and notified the Montgomery County Police Department. On March 15, 2024, FBI agents interviewed the school counselor who worked with Ye.
On April 17, 2024, Montgomery County Police Department officers arrested Ye. He was charged with threats of mass violence and held at the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit in Rockville.
