Charles Alex Benfield, 26, of Gastonia, North Carolina, United States is a U.S. Marine Corps corporal. He is a field artillery cannoneer assigned to Battalion Landing Team 1/5, 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit at Camp Pendleton in San Diego County, California, USA.
Benfield went to Frank W. Cox High School in Virginia Beach, Virginia, USA and Hunter Huss High School in Gastonia. He is Charles Tice‘s son and Sarah Lazo‘s brother.
Where is Charles Benfield?
On April 14, 2024, Benfield was arrested in San Diego, San Diego County for public intoxication. He was booked into the McAlister Institute Recovery and Bridge Center in San Diego.
Later that day, Benfield was released. After his release, he went missing.
According to Benfield’s family, his phone is dead and it last pinged at the San Diego Police Department. His family also found out that his bank has been cleared out.
On April 15, 2024, Benfield did not report for duty at Camp Pendleton. Marines from his unit searched the downtown San Diego area but he was nowhere to be found.
Benfield is active duty and the Naval Criminal Investigative Service was investigating his disappearance. For these reasons, the San Diego Police Department could not declare him a missing person.
On April 20, 2024, Benfield was found safe, the NCIS confirmed. Details about where he was located were not released.
