Jared Jeridore, 24, of Queens, New York City, New York, United States worked as a crossing guard at a school in Jamaica, Queens. While he was employed there, the internal affairs bureau of the New York City Police Department received complaints about him from children.
Based on the complaints, an undercover operation was initiated. On March 28, 2024, a female undercover officer posing as a girl aged 14 met with Jeridore near the school where he worked.
On April 18, 2024, Jeridore and the undercover officer walked together from the intersection of 108th Avenue and 167th Street in Jamaica to a nearby bus stop and he interlocked his arms with hers. They exchanged Instagram screen names and in the evening, he had a video call with her and asked her to join him in a sexual act.
From April 18-21, 2024, Jeridore sent Instagram messages to another undercover officer who was posing as the first one. He described sexual interactions he wanted to have with her and sent naked photos and a sexually explicit video.
At around 7:30 a.m. on April 23, 2024, Jeridore repeatedly called the first undercover officer. He asked her to meet him at a hotel at Van Wyck Expressway in Jamaica to have sex.
When Jeridore arrived at the hotel, he was arrested by NYPD officers who were there waiting for him. He brought three condoms with him.
Jeridore was booked at the NYPD’s 107th Precinct in Fresh Meadows, Queens. On April 24, 2024, he was arraigned on a seven-count criminal complaint.
Queens Criminal Court Judge Julieta Lozano ordered Jeridore to return to court on June 7, 2024. He was charged with official misconduct, attempted rape, attempted endangering the welfare of a child, attempted use of a child in a sexual performance and three counts of first-degree attempted dissemination of indecent material to minors in the first degree.
