US Marshals arrest Kevin Wright in Cleveland, Ohio

Tyrone Griffin, 17, was fatally shot in Slavic Village, Cleveland, Cuyahoga County, Ohio, United States on January 2, 2024 allegedly by Kevin Wright, 20. It has yet to be confirmed whether or not they were both Cleveland residents.

Cleveland Division of Police officers responded to the scene. Griffin was found unconscious and laying in the street.

A moving vehicle struck Griffin first before he was shot in the head. A warrant was issued for Wright’s arrest after he was identified as the suspect.

On May 2, 2024, members of the Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force (NOVFTF) arrested Wright in Lee-Harvard, Cleveland. The task force was led by the U.S. Marshals Service.

Wight was quickly apprehended after he tried to evade officers on foot. He was charged with aggravated murder.

Run by the U.S. Marshals, the NOVFTF was formed in 2003. It is based in Cleveland, the county seat of Cuyahoga County.
