Malinda Hoagland of West Caln Township, Chester County, Pennsylvania, United States has died. She was 12.
When Hoagland died, she weighed only 50 pounds. She lived in West Caln Township with her father Rendell Hoagland, 52, and his girlfriend Cindy Warren, 45.

Warren has a prior conviction for endangering the welfare of a child in Monroe County, Pennsylvania. It is related to the physical abuse of her son, then 3, and for the beating death of a child, 2, in her care.
In November 2023, Malinda was pulled out of school. In December 2023, she was shifted to an online cyber school.
On May 4, 2024, Rendell called 911. He reported that Malinda was unconscious and unresponsive.
Rendell claimed that Malinda was riding her bicycle when she struck a tree. However, that was inconsistent with the girl’s organ failure, bruises and six broken bones.
Malinda was rushed to the hospital where she later died. Investigators found videos from Rendell and Warren’s phones and in-home camera system, showing how Malinda was verbally berated.
The videos also showed that Malinda was ankle-cuffed to furniture. While still shackled, she was forced allegedly by Rendell and Warren to run in place and perform other strenuous physical exercises.
On May 6, 2024, Rendell and Warren were arrested. Bail was set at $1 million for both.
