Who is Lawrence LaPlante?
Aside from Troy, LaPlante has lived in other parts of New York including Jamestown, Bath, Syracuse and Collins. In February 2002, he was convicted in Rensselaer County for sexual abuse and contact with a child, then 4.
LaPlante was sentenced to jail time. He was required to register as a sex offender in New York upon his release from jail.
When LaPlante moved from New York to Kissimmee in 2020, he did not register as a sex offender as required by Florida law. On May 13, 2021, a circuit court in Osceola County issued a warrant for his arrest for failure of sexual offender to make initial report to sheriff and failure of sexual offender to report within 48 hours of vacating permanent, temporary or transient residence.
On May 7, 2024, the Two Rivers Violent Fugitive Task Force (TRVFTF) of the U.S. Marshals in Jackson, Madison County, Tennessee arrested LaPlante in Humboldt. He was transported to Gibson County, Tennessee where he will await the extradition process back to Florida.
