University of Delaware student Jenna Kandeel charged with hate crime

Jenna Marie Kandeel, 23, of Stewartstown, Pennsylvania, United States is a student at the University of Delaware in Newark, Delaware, USA. She is an alumna of Kennard-Dale High School in Fawn Grove, Pennsylvania.

Jenna Kandeel arrested

In May 2019, Kandeel graduated from Kennard-Dale High School. In January 2024, she turned 23.

On the evening of May 8, 2024, Kandeel damaged 10 flags at a Holocaust memorial sponsored by the Jewish student group UD Hillel on The Green at the University of Delaware for Holocaust Remembrance Week. She also spat on the flags and made vulgar statements about the Jewish community and the Holocaust.

That night, Jandeel was arrested by University of Delaware Police Department officers. She admitted the vandalism to them and explained that the Holocaust memorial flag display triggered her..

Kandeel was charged with three misdemeanors namely disorderly conduct, criminal mischief and hate crime. She has been banned from the University of Delaware campus.
