Joshua Cobb, 23, of Trenton, New Jersey, United States has been arrested. He is a U.S. Marine Corps veteran.
Who is Joshua Cobb?
“I want to cause mayhem on the white community,” Cobb wrote on social media on December 17, 2022. “The reason i specifically want to target white people is because as a black male, they will NEVER understand my struggles. Same way I will never understand their struggles, but I don’t care to. I want to erase them. All of them really, but in this case as many as I possibly can.”
“As of today I have officially began planning my attack, Cobb continued. “It is going to take place in 2023 in the state of New Jersey, I have not chosen a exact date but I am going to be sure it is close to an important holiday to their race.”
On February 24, 2023, Cobb took to social media to share critiques of federal gun laws. In April 2023 and May 2023, he made more social media posts discussing his hopes of progressing into a serial killer.
From June 20, 2023 to October 16, 2023, Cobb attended a basic USMC training in South Carolina, USA. From September 16-24, 2023, he was on leave from basic training.
On February 2, 2024, Cobb arrived for duty at the Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center (MCAGCC) in Twentynine Palms, California, USA. On April 3, 2024, his iPhone was lawfully seized by law enforcement.
Cobb’s discharge from the USMC was scheduled for on or about May 10, 2024. That day, he was arrested and charged with transmitting a threat in interstate and foreign commerce.
