Mike Houston McClendon, 70, of Sulfur Springs, Hopkins County, Texas, United States has been released from the Hopkins County Jail in Sulfur Springs. He posted a $100,000 bond.

Who is Mike McClendon?

Aside from Sulphur Springs, McClendon has lived in other parts of Texas including Grapevine, Bedford and South Lake. He previously lived in Niceville, Florida, USA.

In 1975, McClendon graduated from the U.S. Air Force Academy in El Paso County, Colorado, USA. From March 1977 to February 1979, he was a A-7D fighter pilot of the 76th Tactical Fighter Squadron at the England Air Force Base in Alexandria, Louisiana, USA.

On June 4, 1975, McClendon became a second lieutenant. He was promoted to first lieutenant on June 4, 1977, captain on June 4, 1979, major on June 4, 1989, lieutenant colonel on June 4, 1996, colonel on June 1, 2000 and brigadier general on December 24, 2005.

In 2009, McClendon retired from the U.S. Air Force. On January 1, 2014, he allegedly started sexually assaulting a minor.

On May 11, 2024, a Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office deputy conducted a routine traffic stop, which produced a person of interest in an ongoing investigation of sexual assault of a minor. McClendon was named to be a person of interest in the investigation.

McClendon was arrested and charged with continuous sexual assault of a young child, a first-degree felony charge. In August 2024, he will turn 71.
