Directed by Chad Stahelski and written by Derek Kolstad, “John Wick” was released on October 24, 2014. It was distributed by Summit Entertainment.
Keanu Reeves played the title character. He reprised the role in “John Wick: Chapter 2”, “John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum” and “John Wick: Chapter 4”.
Shay Hatten and Michael Finch wrote “John Wick: Chapter 4”. It was released in England on March 6, 2023 and in the United States on March 24, 2023.
Donnie Yen as Caine
Donnie Yen played Caine in “John Wick: Chapter 4”. The character is an old friend of John Wick.
Caine is a blind High Table assassin. To ensure the safety of his daughter, he is forced out of retirement to kill John Wick.
Lionsgate is currently developing a “John Wick” spinoff movie around Caine. It will follow the events of “John Wick: Chapter 4”.
The director and the title of the spinoff movie have yet to be announced. It will be filmed in Hong Kong in 2025.
Born in Guangzhou, Guangdong, China, Yen was a citizen of Hong Kong from 1963 to 1974 and the U.S. 1974 to 2010. In 2009, he became a Hong Kong citizen again.
Meanwhile, Reeves is reprising John Wick in “John Wick Presents: Ballerina“, which will be released in the U.S. on June 6, 2025. Among his co-stars are Ana de Armas, Anjelica Huston, Gabriel Byrne, Lance Reddick, Catalina Sandino Moreno, Norman Reedus, Ian McShane, Sharon Duncan-Brewster and David Castañeda.
