Timothée Chalamet, 28, Edward Norton, 54, and Elle Fanning, 26, are currently in Cape May, New Jersey, United States. They are filming “A Complete Unknown“, a film about the controversy surrounding the switch to electrically amplified instrumentation by Bob Dylan, 82.
Dylan made history when he played electric guitar at the 1965 Newport Folk Festival, a traditionally acoustic event, in Newport, Rhode Island, USA. Cape May takes on the role of Newport in “A Complete Unknown”.

James Mangold is directing “A Complete Unknown”. He co-wrote the screenplay with Jay Cocks based on Elijah Wald’s 2015 book “Dylan Goes Electric!”
In March 2024, the movie began filming in New York City, New York, USA. Chalamet was seen strolling around Chelsea, New York City that month.
Production was scheduled to take place in Cape May from May 12-16, 2024. Locals were hired to work as extras in the film during those days.
Recently, Chalamet and Fanning were seen filming in Paterson, New Jersey and Passaic, New Jersey. In June 2024, filming will continue in other parts of New Jersey.
Chalamet plays Dylan in the film while Norton plays Pete Seeger and Fanning plays Suze Russo. Seeger was one of the earliest backers of Dylan and Russo was Dylan’s girlfriend from 1961 to 1964.
Both Dylan and Chalamet are producing the film, which has yet to have a release date. Also in the cast are Monica Barbaro as Joan Baez, Boyd Holbrook as Johnny Cash, Scoot McNairy as Woody Guthrie, Dan Fogler as Albert Grossman, Will Harrison as Bob Neuwirth, Norbert Leo Butz as Alan Lomax, Michael Chernus as Dave van Ronk, Laura Kariuki as Mavis Staples and Sarah King as Barbara Dane.
