Miss USA 1980 first runner-up Jineane Marie Ford grew up on a farm in Gilbert, Maricopa County, Arizona, United States. She attended Mesa Community College in Mesa, Maricopa County before winning Miss Arizona USA 1980.
Currently, Arizona has 26 Miss USA placements including the first runner-up finishes of Jane Nelson in 1965 and Ford in 1980. The most recent one was in 2016 when Chelsea Myers finished in the Top 15.
Miss Arizona USA 2023
Candace Kanavel of Tempe, Maricopa County was 27 years old when she won Miss Arizona USA 2023 at the Higley Center for the Performing Arts in Gilbert on May 29, 2023. She competed against 34 other candidates.
Runner-up to Kanavel was Jordyn Owen of Catalina Foothills. The respective second, third, fourth and fifth runners-up were Khayla Munir of Desert Heat, Zari Chacon of East Valley, Samantha “Sammi” Landsman of Scottsdale and Victoria Jackson of Avondale.
Miss Arizona USA 2024
On May 26, 2024, Kanavel will go back to the Higley Center for the Performing Arts in Gilbert to crown her successor. It is the 73rd edition of the state-level beauty pageant that selects Arizona’s candidate for Miss USA, which selects the Miss Universe candidate of the U.S.
