Marina Machete Reis is from Palmela, Setubal, Lisbon, Portugal. She is the first transwoman to represent the country in Miss Universe and the first transwoman to place in Miss Universe.

On October 5, 2023, Machete represented Palmela at Miss Universe Portugal 2023 and competed against 16 other candidates at Borba Events Pavilion in Borba, Portugal. She won the title.

On November 18, 2023, Machete represented Portugal at Miss Universe 2023 and competed against 83 other candidates at the José Adolfo Pineda Arena in San Salvador, El Salvador. She finished in the Top 20.

Miss & Mrs. Portugal 2024

On June 15, 2024, the Miss & Mrs. Portugal 2024 coronation ceremony will be held at Cine-Teatro Avenida in Castelo Branco, Portugal. The winner will be crowned Miss Universe Portugal 2024.

This is the seventh edition of the national beauty pageant that selects Portugal’s Miss Universe candidate. Currently, the country has four placements in the international beauty pageant.

Laura Gonçalves finished in the Top 10 when she represented Portugal at Miss Universe 2011. Sylvia Silva finished in the Top 20 when she represented the country at Miss Universe 2019 and Telma Madeira finished in the Top 16 when she represented the country at Miss Universe 2022.
