Gregory Edward McLean, 40, of Jacksonville, Florida, United States is a U.S. Navy veteran. He was a lieutenant commander.

Who is Gregory McLean?
In November 2020, McLean allegedly shared videos depicting the sexual abuse of young children. At the time, he was an active-duty officer in the U.S. Navy serving as the executive officer of a ship stationed aboard a Naval Station Mayport in Florida, USA.
State law enforcement in Rhode Island received a cyber tipline report about the videos. The Naval Criminal Investigative Service found more child sexual abuse materials distributed by McLean.
On November 4, 2021, NCIS agents executed a federal search warrant at McLean’s residence in Jackson and seized numerous electronic devices and storage media. Several of the items contained files depicting the sexual abuse of minors.
Throughout McLean’s service as a naval officer, he had access to classified information and held a top-secret security clearance. A flash drive recovered from his kitchen counter contained around 150 documents with national defense information classified at the secret level and 50 documents with national defense information classified at the confidential level.
On November 15, 2021, McLean was relieved of his duties. Prior to this, he was USS Minneapolis-Saint Paul’s second-in-command.
In September 2022, McLean was indicted and on December 6, 2023, he pleaded guilty to distributing videos depicting the sexual assault of children and unlawful retention of classified national defense information. On May 30, 2024, he was sentenced to 160 months for distributing child sexual abuse material and 120 months for unlawfully retaining classified national defense information, which will be served concurrently.
