Rio Miyazaki (宮崎 莉緒) was born in Shizuoka, Chūbu, Honshu, Japan. She is the reigning Miss Universe Japan 2023.

Miyazaki won the title on August 30, 2023 at Yamano Hall in Shibuya, Tokyo, Japan. She competed against 35 other candidates.

Runner-up to Miyazaki was Nanami Miwa of Shizuoka. The respective second, third and fourth runners-up were Risa Morishita of Kanagawa, Mio Yamamoto of Gunma and Misaki Matsumoto of Fukuoka.

Miss Universe Japan 2024

On July 25, 2024, Miyazaki will go back to Yamano Hall to crown her successor. It is the 27th edition of the national beauty pageant that selects the country’s Miss Universe candidate.

Currently, Japan has 20 Miss Universe placements, including the coronation of Akiko Kojima in 1959 and Riyo Mori in 2007. The most recent one was in 2021 when Juri Watanabe finished in the Top 16.

Hiroko Mima has been the national director of Miss Universe Japan since 2018. Currently, Japan has 20 Miss Universe placements, including the coronation of Akiko Kojima and Riyo Mori

On July 24, 1959, Kojima won Miss Universe 1959 at the Long Beach Municipal Auditorium in Long Beach, Los Angeles County, California, United States. On May 28, 2007, Mori won Miss Universe 2007 at the National Auditorium in Mexico City, Mexico.

On July 14, 2008, Mima represented Japan at Miss Universe 2008 and competed against 79 other candidates at the Crown Convention Center in Nha Trang, Vietnam. She finished in the Top 15.
