Neil McCarthy, 25, of Oregon, United States has been charged by criminal complaint with indecent exposure. It carries a $5,000 fine and a maximum penalty of six months in prison.
Why was Neil McCarthy arrested?
On July 3, 2023, McCarthy allegedly exposed himself and urinated in the aisle of an American Airlines flight. The aircraft was going to Manchester, New Hampshire, USA from Chicago, Illinois.
Because of what McCarthy allegedly did, the flight was diverted to land in Buffalo, New York, USA. The Niagara Frontier Transit Authority (NFTA) Police was called to Gate 2 at the Buffalo Niagara International Airport in Cheektowaga, New York.
An officer boarded the airplane when the flight landed. McCarthy was arrested and escorted off the plane. The flight continued on to Manchester after the Oregon man was removed from the plane.
After making an initial appearance before U.S. Magistrate Judge Jeremiah J. McCarthy, Neil was released on his own recognizance. Assistant U.S. attorney Charles M. Kruly is handling the case.
