Rio Miyazaki (宮崎 莉緒) was born in Shizuoka, Chūbu, Honshu, Japan. She is the reigning Miss Universe Japan 2023.

On July 25, 2024, Miyazaki will crown her successor at Yamano Hall in Shibuya, Tokyo, Japan. It is the 27th edition of the national beauty pageant that selects the country’s Miss Universe candidate.
Currently, Japan has 20 Miss Universe placements, including the coronation of Akiko Kojima in 1959 and Riyo Mori in 2007. The most recent one was in 2021 when Juri Watanabe finished in the Top 16.

On July 24, 1959, Kojima won Miss Universe 1959 at the Long Beach Municipal Auditorium in Long Beach, Los Angeles County, California, United States. On May 28, 2007, Mori won Miss Universe 2007 at the National Auditorium in Mexico City, Mexico.
On July 14, 2008, Mima represented Japan at Miss Universe 2008 and competed against 79 other candidates at the Crown Convention Center in Nha Trang, Vietnam. She finished in the Top 15.
