While working at the school as a CTE teacher, Vernon allegedly sexually abused a student. On July 1, 2024, Randolph County Sheriff’s Office deputies received a report about the allegations.
On July 24, 2024, Vernon was arrested and served at the Randolph County Detention Center in Asheboro, Randolph County. She was charged with three counts of felony sex acts with a student and three counts of felony indecent liberties with a student.
Vernon is being held on a $75,000 unsecured bond. On August 12, 2024, she will make her first appearance in court.
