2012

  • On January 31, 2012, Payne and Hayworth’s bodies were found dead inside their Mountain City home.
  • On February 6, 2012, her husband Buddy was arrested.
  • During a search warrant of their Mountain City home on February 7, 2012, one of the police officers assisting in the search allegedly saw her trying to destroy computer printed photographs of one of the murder victims.
  • On September 20, 2012, she was indicted on one count of tampering with evidence.
  • On September 24, 2012, she was arrested without incident and booked into the Johnson County Jail in in Cleburne, Texas. Her bail was set at $50,000.

2021

  • During a post-conviction hearing in August 2021, she was granted a new trial on the grounds that her original trial attorney Randy Fallin presented a conflict of interest in representing both her and Buddy in their murder trials.
  • On November 10, 2021, she pleaded guilty to two counts of facilitation of first-degree murder in Washington County court so her sentence was reduced from life in prison to 25 years.
