Tayla Lee Brailey Rizza, 30, of Wollongong, New South Wales, Australia is a physical education teacher at Lurnea High School in Lurnea, New South Wales. She earned her bachelor’s degree in physical and health education at the University of Wollongong in Wollongong.
Who is Tayla Brailey?
In October 2017, the New South Wales Department of Education hired Rizza. She and Isaiah Rizza got engaged in December 2021 and they got married on September 30, 2023.
In July 2024, a boy, 17, added Tayla on Snapchat. He was her student at Lurnea High School.
That month, Tayla allegedly sexually abused the boy on several occasions in her residence in Wollongong and in the back of her car in a location near Lurnea High School. Through Snapchat, she allegedly sent him naked photos of herself and videos of herself masturbating and in return, he allegedly sent her similar photos and videos of himself.
On August 6, 2024, Tayla was arrested at Lurnea High School, taken to Liverpool Police Station in Liverpool, New South Wales and booked into the Amber Laurel Correctional Centre in Emu Plains, New South Wales. She was charged with aggravated sexual assault, sexual touching and sexual intercourse with a person under care.
On August 7, 2024, Tayla appeared via video link before Magistrate Imad Abdul-Karim in Liverpool Local Court in Liverpool. She was accompanied by Isaiah and her parents.
Abdul-Karim granted Tayla bail under strict conditions. She is required to stay at her parents’ house in the Illawarra, New South Wales and is allowed to leave home if accompanied by one of her parents. She is also prohibited from using social media and entering any education premises.
In October 2, 2024, Tayla will appear in Campbelltown Court in Campbelltown, New South Wales. The New South Wales Department of Education has suspended her without pay.
