Who is William C. Griswold?
While employed as a Monticello Police Department officer, Griswold allegedly disseminated child pornography. He was investigated by the Monticello Police Department, Illinois State Police, the Piatt County State’s Attorney’s Office and  the Illinois Attorney General’s Office Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.
On August 13, 2024, Illinois State Police special agents arrested Griswold. He was booked into the Piatt County Jail in Monticello.
On the same day, ISP conducted a search warrant in Griswold’s residence in Monticello. He was charged with dissemination of child pornography.
After Griswold’s arrest, the Monticello Police Department placed him on unpaid leave. The department may terminate him soon.
