Born and raised in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, Serena Lee won Miss Universe Malaysia 2023 in a private event at MOV Hotel in Jalan Berangan, Bukit Bintang, Kuala Lumpur on August 27, 2023. She competed against five other Miss Universe Malaysia 2023 candidates including Caroline Green of Mukah, Sarawak, Malaysia Temara Nelia Inigo of Kuala Selangor, Selangor, Malaysia.
Runner-up to Lee was Green. Inigo was the second runner-up.
