Sheynnis Palacios crowns Miss Universe Costa Rica 2024 Elena Hidalgo in San Antonio, Belen, Heredia

Miss Universe 2023 Sheynnis Palacios attended the coronation ceremony of the inaugural edition of Miss Universe Costa Rica, which was held  at the Centro Internacional de Convenciones ANDE (CIC ANDE) in San Antonio, Costa Rica on September 10, 2024. She crowned the winner Elena Hidalgo, who will represent Costa Rica at Miss Universe 2024.

Costa Rica currently has six Miss Universe placements. The country was represented in the international beauty pageant by the winner of Miss Costa Rica from 1954 to 2023.

Natalia Carvajal and Ivonne Cerdas are the most recent beauty queens from Costa Rica to place in Miss Universe. They won Miss Costa Rica in 2018 and 2021, respectively.

On December 17, 2018, Carvajal finished in the Top 10 at Miss Universe 2018 at the Impact Arena in Pak Kret, Nonthaburi, Thailand. On May 16, 2021, Cerdas finished in the Top 10 at Miss Universe 2020 at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood, Florida, United States.
