Why was Ricky McVey arrested?
In January 2024, McVey turned 52. He is accused of having an inappropriate communication with an underage female.
According to Alexander City Police Department sergeant Drew Machen, officers with the department were dispatched at around 11:10 a.m. on September 10, 2024 to the 200 block of Oak Hill Drive in Alexander City to meet with a group called Predator Poachers. The officers met with a spokesperson from the group and were informed about McVey’s alleged crimes.
Pieces of evidence were collected at the scene. McVey was arrested, booked into the Tallapoosa County Jail in Dadeville, Tallapoosa County and charged with transmitting obscene material to a child, electronic solicitation of a minor and possession of a short-barreled rifle.
Currently, McVey is awaiting bond. The investigation is ongoing.
