Alexander Jeffery Sweigard, 32, of Cumberland County, Pennsylvania, United States is an alumnus of Central Dauphin Middle School in Harrisburg, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania. He became a teacher at the school while he was serving as a coach with the Central Dauphin Wrestling Program.
Why was Alexander Sweigard arrested?
From May 1, 2024 through September 11, 2024, Sweigard had sex with a female high school student, 18, in her residence, according to her. He is also accused of exchanging nude photos with another girl, 16, and encouraging her to be “sexual” with another minor and sending him videos of the encounter.
The photos were found on the underage female’s phone. On September 12, 2024, Sweigard was brought in for an interview and allegedly admitted to having sex with the high school student and exchanging nudes with the other girl.
That day, Sweigard was arrested and booked into the Dauphin County Prison in Harrisburg. He was charged with child pornography, corruption of minors, dissemination of a photo or film of child sex acts, dissemination of explicit sexual material to a minor and contact or communication with a minor (sexual abuse).
Magisterial District Judge Dominic Pelino set Sweigard’s bail at $250,00 at the suspect’s preliminary arraignment. The suspect is still in jail after failing to post bail.
At 2:15 p.m. on September 24, 2024, Sweigard will attend his preliminary hearing. The Central Dauphin School District has removed him.
