Mark Dedaj, 32, of Millbrook, Dutchess County, New York, United States is Maureen Nelson-Lanzi‘s older brother. He was 12 years older than her.
Who is Mark Dedaj?
Aside from Millbrook, Dedaj has lived in other parts of New York including Yorktown Heights, Pleasand Valley and Yorktown Heights. When he was 24, he was accused of attending an underage drinking party in Gardiner, Ulster County, New York and forcing sexual contact on a woman, then 18.
On October 21, 2025, Dedaj was charged with first-degree sexual abuse, a felony, third-degree sexual abuse, a misdemeanor and forcible touching, a misdemeanor. After being arraigned in the Town of Gardiner Court, he was remanded to the Ulster County Jail in Kingston, Ulster County on $5,000 cash bail and $10,000 bond.
Born in Poughkeepsie, Dutchess County, Nelson-Lanzi turned 17 on November 23, 2020. In June 2021, she graduated from Millbrook High School.
On September 4, 2021, Nelson-Lanzi was smothered to death allegedly by Dedaj inside their residence in Millbrook. In October 2023, he turned 32.
On September 17, 2024, he was charged with second-degree murder for the intentional killing of Nelson-Lanzi. He pleaded not guilty when he was arraigned before County Court Judge Jessica Segal in Dutchess County Court in Poughkeepsie.
Dedaj was remanded without bail to the Dutchess County Jail in Poughkeepsie. On October 22, 2024, he will appear in court.
