Glelany Cavalcante made history as the first Miss Universe Italy of Brazilian descent. She is also the first married woman to win the title.

On September 18, 2024, Cavalcante competed against 44 other Miss Universe Italy 2024 candidates at Villa Cafiero in San Ferdinando di Puglia, Barletta-Andria-Trani, Puglia, Italy. She won the title and was crowned by Carmen Panepinto Zayati of Campania, Italy.

On October 8, 2023, Panepinto represented Campania at Miss Universe Italy 2023, competed against 19 other finalists at Lo Smeraldo Ricevimento di Lusso in Puglia, Italy and won the title. On November 18, 2023, she represented Italy at Miss Universe 2023, competed against 83 other candidates at the José Adolfo Pineda Arena in San Salvador, El Salvador and was unplaced.
