Melissa Jubane Llantero of Beaverton, Oregon, United States was a cardiac nurse at Providence St. Vincent Hospital in Southwest Portland, Portland, Oregon. She was married to Imelda Llantero‘s son Bryan Llantero, a Filipino-American physical therapist who grew up in Oahu, Hawaii, USA.
Bryan is a service member of the U.S. Navy and a Medical Service Corps officer. He and Melissa first met at Mokuleia beach in Waialua, Oahu.
Since 2023, Bryan has been assigned to Naval Hospital Bremerton in Bremerton, Washington, USA. That year, he and Melissa were engaged in Oahu.

After attending Fairview Middle School in Bremerton, Melissa graduated from Olympic High School in Bremerton in 2010. She graduated from the University of Washington in Seattle, Washington in 2018.
One of Melissa’s neighbors in Beaverton was Bryce Jonathan Schubert, 27. From September 2022 to October 2023, he worked as a nurse at Providence Portland Medical Center in Portland.

On August 4, 2024, Melissa and Bryan got married n Hale’iwa, Oahu. While she worked in Portland, he had been living with her family in Bremerton.
On September 1, 2024, Bryan and Melissa flew to Washington to spend Labor Day with her family. On September 2, 2024, she drove back to her apartment in Beaverton.
On September 3, 2024, Melissa showed up to work at Providence St. Vincent Medical Center. On September 4, 2024, Schubert allegedly kidnapped her, took her from one place to another and caused intentional harm and abuse to her body after killing her.
Because Melisa did not show up for her morning shift that day, Beaverton Police Department officers performed a welfare check on her apartment in Five Oaks, Beaverton and found no signs of her. That day, the last time Bryan heard from her was around 6:00 a.m. and at 3:12 p.m., she was listed as a missing person.
On the evening of September 6, 2024, Melissa was found dead. She was 32.
That evening, Beaverton Police Department officers arrested Schubert, who was accused of being involved in Melissa’s disappearance. On September 9, 2024, he was arraigned in Washington County Circuit Court in Hillsboro, Oregon on charges of charges of first-degree kidnapping, second-degree abuse of a corpse and second-degree murder.
On September 16, 2024, Schubert attended a preliminary court proceeding via video to determine if there is enough evidence to try him. He pleaded not guilty.
Due to the nature of the charges, Schubert was not granted any bail. On October 15, 2024, he will be back in court.
