Did Emmanuel Sampson shoot Amareus Henderson in Memphis?

On February 26, 2024, Amareus Henderson of Memphis turned 21.

On September 11, 2024, Henderson went to the Montgomery Place Apartments in Memphis to drop off his dog for the weekend. As he was leaving, he was confronted and surrounded by Sampson and several other men.

The men patted Henderson down. At around 9:30 p.m., he was shot allegedly by Sampson.

Right after stealing Henderson’s wallet and gun, Sampson allegedly fled the scene. In a photo lineup, Sampson was identified by two witnesses as the shooter.

On September 15, 2024, investigators received tips about Sampson. On September 19, 2024, an arrest warrant was issued charging him with first-degree murder.

On September 27, 2024, the fugitive apprehension team of the Memphis Police Department found Sampson at a residence in Memphis. He refused to come out of the residence so the police department requested assistance from the Two Rivers Violent Fugitive Task Force of the U.S. Marshals Service.

When the U.S. Marshals responded to the scene, Sampson still refused to surrender so they had to force the residence’s front door open. He was found inside with Latonya Livingston, 33, of Memphis and was taken into custody without further incident.

Livingston was arrested and charged with accessory after the fact: to wit first degree murder. Both she and Sampson were booked into the Shelby County Jail in Memphis.
