Yuxin Fu, 24, of Flushing, Queens, New York City, New York, United States has been arrested. She is accused of being involved in a scam targeting a resident of Marston Mills, Barnstable, Massachusetts, USA.

Marstons Mills is home to the William Marston House, a wood-frame house built by Benjamin Marston in 1780. The village is around 272 miles away from Flushing, which is the fourth largest central business district in New York City.

Flushing is patrolled by the 109th precinct of the New York City Police Department. The district is home to Flushing Chinatown, which is one of the largest and fastest growing ethnic Chinese enclaves outside Asia.

The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) is tasked with combating illicit drug trafficking and distribution within the U.S. The agency is based in Arlington County, Virginia, USA, which is around 480 miles away from Marstons Mills.

Posing as a member of the DEA, Fu allegedly advised the Marstons Mills resident that their social security number was linked to an investigation in Texas, USA. The former allegedly convinced the latter to transfer their account funds to a government account to protect them from being seized.

In December 2022, the Barnstable Police became aware of the Marstons Mills resident that had been instructed to transfer $46,000 into a government account. In May 2023, Fu fled the U.S. to China.

In June 2023, a warrant was issued for Fu. On September 23, 2024, she was taken into custody at John F. Kennedy International Airport  in Queens as she tried to reenter the U.S.

Fu waived extradition. The Flushing woman was transported from New York to Massachusetts.

On October 4, 2024, Fu was arraigned in Barnstable District Court on larceny over $1,200 and receiving stolen property over $1,200. She was held on $1,000 bail at the request of the Cape and Islands District Attorney’s Office in Barnstable.
