Where was Isaias Colon arrested?
Isaias Medina Colon, 34, of Ponce, Puerto Rico, United States has been arrested. He was wanted in Ohio, USA on charges of attempted rape and gross sexual imposition.
Colon is a former resident of Youngstown, Mahoning County, Ohio. He is married to Stephanie Michelle Rodriguez, 31.
In November 2023, Colon and Rodriguez got married. They were both Youngstown residents at the time.
On June 7, 2024, the Mahoning County Court of Pleas in Youngstown issued a warrant for Colon’s arrest. This was after the Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force of the U.S. Marshals Service requested assistance from the agency’s Puerto Rico Violent Offenders Task Force (PRVOTF) to investigate him in attempts to locate and arrest him.
On October 7, 2024, the PRVOTF and members of the extradition unit of the Puerto Rico Police Department (PRPD) conducted a surveillance at a residence in Ponce for around two hours. They saw a gray car arrived at the residence.
Three people, including Colon, exited the car. The Ponce resident was taken into custody.
Colon was transported to the PRPD’s extradition unit for extradition procedure. He was imprisoned in Bayamon, Puerto Rico.
“All our cases are important but those against children are of the upmost priority for our personnel,” Wilmer Ocasio-Ibarra, the U.S. Marshal for the district of Puerto Rico, stated. “We will continue to be vigilant against any criminal who evades justice and tries to hide so as not to assume his or her responsibility. Our commitment to our citizens comes first and we will allocate all necessary resources to make our communities safe, maintaining a quality of life that we all deserve in Puerto Rico.”
