Shubila Stanton of Dar es Salaam, Tanzania was 23 years old when she won the 12th edition of Miss Universe Tanzania. At the time, she was pursuing a bachelor’s degree in environment science and management while working as a model.
Originally from Morogoro, Tanzania, Stanton won Miss Morogoro 2019. On October 12, 2019, she represented Dar es Salaam at Miss Universe Tanzania 2019, competed against nine other finalists at Serena Hotel in Dar es Salaam and won the title.
On October 18, 2024, Standon crowned her successor Judith Ngusa in Dar es Salaam. The latter will represent Tanzania at Miss Universe 2024 in Mexico.

Tanzania was represented in Miss Universe from 2007 to 2017 and in 2019. Maria Sarungi Tsehai was the Miss Universe Tanzania national director from 2007 to 2019 and was replaced by Erasto Gideon Chipungahelo in 2024.
Currently, Tanzania has one Miss Universe placement. On May 28, 2007, Flavia Matata represented the country at Miss Universe 2007, competed against 76 other candidates at the National Auditorium in Mexico City, Mexico and finished in the Top 10.
On December 8, 2019, Stanton represented Tanzania at Miss Universe 2019 and competed against 89 other candidates at Tyler Perry Studios in Atlanta, Georgia, United States. She was unplaced.
