Leandro Mendoza represented the Dominican Republic at Caballero Universal 2023 and competed against 19 other candidates at Teatro Luisela Diaz in Caracas, Venezuela on October 28, 2023. He won the title.

Also crowned was Virrey Caballero Universal 2023 Ailton Rodrigues de Oliveira of Brazil. The respective first, second, third and fourth runners-up were Enrique Alejandro Díaz of Puerto Rico, Gabriel Bastidas of Venezuela, Jose Luis Cera of Mexico and Daniel Rodriguez Chopite of Canada.

On October 25, 2024, Mendoza will crown his successor at the Hotel Pestana Suites Caracas in Caracas. It is the fourth edition of the international beauty pageant based in Venezuela.

Caballero Universal was founded by Rafael Enrique Ramírez Montes, a fashion designer also known as RAENRRA. He is a native of Caracas and an alumnus of the Koefia International Academy of High Fashion and Costume Art in Rome, Italy.

On December 9, 2021, Cristhian Naranjo Gómez of Spain won Caballero Universal 2021 at Venetur Hotel on Margarita Island, Nueva Esparta, Venezuela along with Luis Bermudez of Venezuela as Virrey Caballero Universal 2021. The respective first, second, third and fourth runners-up were Emmanuel Peña of the Dominican Republic, Kevin John of French Guiana, Wilson Andrés Cárdenas Carrillo of Ecuador and Ronald Freddy Mayorga Peixoto of Peru.

On December 1, 2022, Kendall Jo Switzenberg of the United States won Caballero Universal 2022 at Teatro Luisela Diaz in Caracas with Carlos Palacios of Nicaragua as Virrey Caballero Universal 2022. The respective first, second, third and fourth runners-up were Pablo Estrada of Spain, Kramikkumar Yadav of India, Ángel Rosado of Puerto Rico and Roger Molina of Cuba.
