Who is Mia le Roux?
Mia le Roux is a South African model and beauty queen raised in Oudtshoorn, Western Cape, South Africa. She became the first deaf woman to win Miss South Africa while she was working as a marketing manager for a startup company and pursuing a bachelor’s degree in marketing at the University of South Africa in Pretoria, Gauteng, South Africa.
Le Roux attended Oudtshoorn Junior Primary School and Oudtshoorn High School in Oudtshoorn. She earned her nutrition certificate from the Sport Science Institute of South Africa in Cape Town, Western Cape, South Africa and her exercise specialist diploma from eta College in Cape Town.
Born in Sasolburg, Free State, South Africa to Schalk le Roux Sr. and Liesel le Roux, Mia has an older brother named Schalk le Roux Jr., who is married to Corlette Kunz. Schalk Sr. and Liesel own Postnet, a printing and shipping company based in Oudtshoorn.
“As a deaf woman with a cochlear implant, I represent a community that often goes unheard,” Mia told Religion Unplugged in September 2024. “I am here to prove that, despite being differently abled, it has not affected me in terms of what I am capable of.”
